The LexisNexis Investigators Network is a secure professional community for law enforcement investigators and analysts from federal, state and local agencies who use Accurint, the premier public records searching tool. Investigative professionals are typically isolated workers whose job success is dependent on information exchange, but often limited by jurisdiction, location or agency. Because of its widespread use and strong user screening, Accurint was uniquely positioned to bridge this gap and deliver a peer collaboration solution tied directly to the investigations workflow.
In February 2010, LexisNexis launched the network, which allows investigators to connect with their peers, share case experiences and insights, and learn from recognized experts as well as each other. Members can search for members based on agency affiliation, geographic parameters or specialty experience (e.g. homicide, gangs, narcotics) and connect with more than 6500 members across the state, region or country. Through repeat community exposure and participation, LexisNexis has developed a unique, differentiating asset that builds loyalty and decreases attrition.
As of June 2011, the LexisNexis Investigators Network achieved the following results against original goals:
- More than 6400 members have joined
- Leveraging the discussions forum and Member Directory, members have connected to seek and provide crime-solving assistance
- Member base represents 1,700 agencies from all 50 states, including federal (21%), state (11%) and local agencies (68%)
- Three new product suggestions identified by the community are under consideration
- 35% of members joined a specialty topic group (e.g., homicide, gangs)
- Average member visit was 12 minutes, 15 seconds (2x average of other similar communities)
- Member e-newsletters achieved a 31% open rate and a 31% click-thru rate (above average for comparable B2B newsletters)
- Industry analysts recommended that law enforcement managers "leverage the
at-large community for access to more information"
- Throughout the first year, we received continuous member feedback that confirmed the network's original vision and intent was being fulfilled
LexisNexis has also reviewed member data on Accurint product use and membership activity on the Investigators Network (data is confidential)
