What's the value of Facebook fans? We know!

Bosch is investing in social media activities on Facebook. The kickoff was planned along an experimental phase, ending in an open ended question. The Bosch management wants to gain insights whether their marketing investments payoff, or not.
In particular following questions came up:
- Who are the Facebook fans?
- Could the target group "apprentices" be reached?
- What is the actual value of Facebook fans in comparison to "conventional" KPIs?
- Can permission be generated for direct marketing campaigns?
Bosch went on a trail searching for answers, together with Globalpark a software specialist for feedback management solutions based in Germany. Therefore an "Insights Community" was setup, which is seamlessly integrated into Bosch's fanpage. Fans are invited to this community to participate in surveys and product tests.
Only 4 weeks after launch Bosch knew precisely that it is worth investing in Facebook and a strategy, based on the results, along realistic objectives was developed.
Bosch's "Insight Community" is integrated into Bosch's Facebook fan page with SINC. SINC is a social media extension as part of Globalpark's online research platform Enterprise Feedback Suite which enables companies to reach the following business goals:
- By matching social media marketing with existing marketing KPI systems, companies gain knowledge on whether their investment in Facebook pays off or not.
- Fans' permission for direct marketing can easily be generated - the individual monetary value is not disclosed by Bosch. (Marketing)
- Direct interaction channel to brand ambassadors and lead users could be realized. (Targeting/Grouping)
- User insights for product innovation could be gained, i.e. "What features should be covered by mobile apps for craftsmen?" (Insights)
- Brands can get a stable idea how to act strategically and decisions are made more easily.
