Engage365: Empowering Event Professionals to Explore Social Media
By Omnipress
The first question meeting professionals ask when they want to find out about using social media at their conferences and events is, "Where do I get started?" The web is full of tips and tricks for using social media, but the topic really had no home base.
Using its own social media solution, Omnipress created Engage365, a dynamic online community and knowledge center that allows meeting professionals and industry thought leaders to share resources, discuss challenges and make connections — all under the premise of discovering innovative and engaging ways to use social media at events.
The site launched in late 2009 and quickly gained momentum, thanks to the engagement of hand-picked thought leaders and key supporters. The members engage daily via email, Twitter, webinars, archived resources and active discussion areas within the Omnipress platform and beyond. Tags, search engines and an easy interface help users find resources quickly. At a recent face-to-face conference of meeting professionals, Engage365 members clamored to receive Engage365 t-shirts to show off their membership.
In just nine months, Engage365 has grown from a handful of thought leaders to almost 800 members. It has over 14,300 unique visitors, 31,000+ visits and more than 81,000 page views. More than half of traffic comes from referring sites and blogs. Dozens of thought leaders contribute to over a hundred articles which are read and socially shared by hundreds of visitors each week. Members have sent over 800 private messages and posted nearly 500 public comments on 181 topical conversations. Dozens join in or lurk in weekly online Twitter chats at #engage365 on Twitter, and close to 700 people have attended the 30 live webinars. The membership includes the who's who in social media for events, and they energize each other with what's hot and exciting and confronting.
In addition, Engage365 showcases Omnipress' social networking platform built for events. The community brings together Omnipress' best customers and leads: meeting professionals who need educational meeting materials, conference recordings and innovative ways to engage attendees. This allows Omnipress staff to develop relationships with existing and prospective customers and helps the company keep in touch with the challenges and advancements in the meetings industry.

Engage365 just promoted one of its engaged members to a Community Manager role and (bam!) ... a 100 new members (900+ total). The current buzz is a self-created engage365 book club, more online chats, a jersey journey... and ideas of creating a F2F event.

Living in Madison, Omnipress hometown, it was important not to be swayed by the local company. I have participated in the conversation online in many of the key areas. I was impressed right off by the effortMonipress made before the launch to get the rig

This brings a community together to discuss the latest trends, the newest technologies, the biggest questions. Meeting planners *have* to stay on top of this, but before Engage365, we had no place to go.

I'm constantly telling meeting professionals to visit this site. It's free, and a great place to learn about social media for events if you're just getting started - or conversely, share your experiences with your peers if you're a social media veteran.
