SAS Professionals

By SAS UK
Differentiating oneself in a downturn economy is vital to survival, whether as individuals, teams or organisations. It is essential to improve efficiency and effectiveness, do more with less, and achieve more in less time at a lower cost.

This was the challenge set for SAS UK’s annual user event. We needed a new approach to increase the value, but not the cost of the event while providing customers with a better experience and better value. Out of this challenge, the SAS Professionals Convention was born.

The underlying ‘glue’ was the SAS Professionals social media network. Its aim was not to replace the channels already used to interact with customers, but rather to add a new dimension to existing best practice. It was not “out with the old and in with the new” but “how can we combine the best of both worlds to give our customers the best possible value and experience”.

The resulting event used a blend of social media, live-web training, classroom sessions, live broadcasts and conference presentations to give more than 300 participants a successful three-day experience. At the heart of everything was the social network.

Fast Tracking JUNOS Users

By Juniper Networks
Juniper Networks technology runs the world’s most demanding global networks – and JUNOS Software is at the heart of these solutions. In 2009, Juniper put its entire online community presence to the test in one of its biggest challenges yet: helping 14,000 new users get certified on JUNOS Software.

Leveraging its historical strength in online support with the J-Net Community, Juniper focused on first expanding its presence into social networks and educating its employees and partners in 2009 – resulting in a vastly improved company framework for spreading messages.

This success laid the groundwork for completely integrated campaign in July 2009 to promote the Juniper Networks Fast Track Program and a special 100%-offer for JUNOS certification exams, which included:

• Announcing the program on an official Twitter feed and retweeting
• Announcing to the J-Net community, Juniper Facebook page, and related groups on LinkedIn
• Creating a new JUNOS playlist on the Juniper YouTube channel
• Launching directed advertising on Facebook and LinkedIn
• Outreach to the blog community and social bookmarking

With online communities as the centerpiece of this approach, Juniper has now reached an unprecedented number of JUNOS users about the Fast Track certification program.
